you've become too political, I'm marking you as spam. sorry to see you bow to the temptations. you will almost by definition offend half of your readers
One point I wanted to make early on, but waited until I read through the entire transcript. When you mention
> We have an open letter — notdivided.org — with a few hundred researchers from OpenAI and Google saying, “Yeah, we’re not so cool with this either.” This conversation has clearly broken containment beyond the Second Breakfast listener base.
I think you hint at a broader market issue Anthropic may be the fact millions of small users like me - marginally willing to pay $20/month - would be happy to seek out, to support, and even to build an alternative LLM platform that's non-aligned with "Department of War" priorities. As an experienced developer, Claude Code is clearly the best tool-chain for competent software engineering practice. As an experienced developer, I can also understand how it's constructed, and I don't see any reason another organization cannot enter the space relatively quickly. If Anthropic submits to this institutional bullying, it can very easily become sclerotic and irrelevant within the next few years.
