First, some odds and ends.

Rhodium is hiring its second dedicated tech analyst. If you have some professional experience and want to hang out with me researching, writing and talking about China’s tech policy and global tech dynamics, do consider applying!

Next up, Jake Eberts (aka the legendary BadChinaTake) is on a quest to shame foreign policy think tanks into paying their interns! He’s building out a comprehensive google doc spreadsheet. If you’ve recently interned at a think tank or manage interns in the US or anywhere else for that matter, send him a dm with some details!

I'm well into my little project compiling data on intern pay in the (US) foreign policy field. Here are the worst organizations (so far!). Many maintain nominal commitments to diversity while shutting out low-income students, and many also pay executives nearly 7 figures!

In a heart-felt message, Masha, an Ukrainian Vloger with a big following on China's social media, talks in Chinese about her journey escaping the war-torn Ukraine. She asks her Chinese audience not say that they are "neutral" because "Ukrainians wouldn't understand it".

A little rant about the problem of China literacy in Europe. Welcome to my Ted talk. For starters, in European governments and other institutions, the lack of China expertise and knowledge is shockingly lamentable. Put bluntly, in no European foreign affairs ministry, you'd ...

A man posts the saying “when you ride a tiger it’s hard to dismount.” He's quarantined, and tries to defend himself: “I didn’t say *who* was riding the tiger!” “I’ve been doing epidemic prevention for 3 years,” roars the EPH. “You think I don’t know who's stuck riding the tiger?”

@pstAsiatech I was just saying what I’ve always been saying: ZTE, a O-RAN member, is state-owned and much closer to Chinese military & law enforcement than Huawei ever was. And US policy is, de facto, to help ZTE.

notable that so many of the internet entrepreneurs were coding since they were in high school w/out formal coding classes. My guess is that if coding was taught in high school, many more passions would've been killed than kindled (as now happening with math, bio, history, etc.)

For someone who rails against western culture so much, the setup at Putin’s speech is very Wrestlemania. You half expect to hear glass breaking and see Stone Cold come out with a steel chair
