Perhaps I missed it in this (and other) discussions on this topic:

If Claude enabled autonomous weapons screw up (as AI is won’t to do), would Anthropic be open to product liability lawsuits?

I appreciate the presenting the broad perspectives. Although I’d definitely prefer to live in a democracy, there are disadvantages to the system when it comes to great power competition. Military adoption of AI was inevitable. I think the important questions are how it’s implemented and what sort of guardrails and oversight there is.

It’s so easy to forget what makes a democracy and markets, especially seeing the mess of recent election choices. Democracy and markets are not straight lines, there are bad actions/actors and bad choices but there is learning in that process and through less successful outcomes. Certainly not to say that mistakes aren’t repeated but the results through learning are higher highs and creating answers the alternatives never explore.
