Is that pull quote about the old couple a “Caught By the Tides” reference??

Thank-you for the detailed explanation of H200 chip and Mr Trump's decision to allow China to purchase them.

Trump should ban advanced GPU exports to Europe for as long as they fine American tech companies and continue their democratic backslide.

Trump has taught Europe that the USA is no longer a reliable partner. If he bans advanced GPU exports to Europe they might very well buy from China or develop their own chip industry. The USA is also dependent on the Dutch firm ASML. What if Europe returned the favor and prohibited ASML sales to the USA? Turn about is fair play. As for democratic backsliding, I am more concerned about the problem here in the USA and the Trump/Project 2025 turn toward monarchy or as you might prefer to call it the "Unitary Executive." Or the EU could tempt Trump with a peace prize or some other form of bribery that appeals to his vanity or his avarice. That seems to be a rather effective negotiating tactic.

Right now China is on track to creating their own chip industry and ecosystem as a result of USA action. In the not too distant future China will also be the world's largest economy moving the USA to second place or even third place if India ever gets their act together. Europe is also a larger economy than the USA so they also have potential but they resemble the USA under the Articles of Confederation lacking political and economic centralization.

Be careful what you wish for.
