I wonder the extent to which this book compares to Susanne Schattenberg’s biography of Brezhnev. The Brezhnev biography is—to me—just as much about the broader Communist Party as it is about this one man. And the book very much tries to challenge the old narrative of Brezhnev as an old, weak leader. Then again, Brezhnev does not quite suffer like Xi Zhongxun does.

I AM getting overwhelmed by the names in that book though.

Totally unreadable. Too long and too many difficult words. The narration is all over the place.

Xi, CCP the rest of the elites. Understand this is the only way to keep China united. Strong man, strong arm. Got it. Glad I don't have to deal with them. Hopefully they don't succeed in their domination.

These elites are like the elites the world over, they are like children.
