I must confess to some complicity in this assault. For eight years, in my classes with Chinese government officials in Chicago, and later with undergrads in Hangzhou, we normally had two short breaks between 45 minute sessions of a 135 minute class. Time to smoke, socialize, exchange gossip. I would usually end the break by announcing loudly, "Ok, no more having fun. Back to work." But I had no idea. I'm really innocent.

Is it April Fool's Day again already? RAs as the heirs to the Puritans?

Ok, I'm down with "lying flat" (as a retired person, it's an obligatory part of my afternoon).

Should we look forward to a "moon shot" counter to the party gap? BYO weed, man.

Marx : "Religion is the opium of the masses"

Now: "The Party's party is the opium of the masses".

Are you saying China is extending The Party Gap from us? All we need to do draft the population into Joy Divisions.

Each citizen will have to a Party Attendance Specialty. We might need a President of House, An Admiral of Opera and National Czar of Community Bowling.

Or maybe we just need to make Mosh Pits great again. Henry IV the best French king, made sure every family had a chicken in every pot. We've advanced so much since then we should be able to have at least an edible for every adult. That must be consumed at their weekly shift at the neighborhood bonfire.

Thank you for raising our attention to this matter.
