Thanks for this background on Walz, especially his involvement with China. I think he's a good pick. One correction on Walz' 24 years of military service with the US National Guard: according to military.com, Minnesota Public Radio and USAToday, while Walz was sent abroad for months at a time with the National Guard, he never actively served in Afghanistan. Rather he was posted to Italy and Norway to support the US military effort in Afghanistan. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/08/06/tim-walz-military-career-national-guard/74685414007/ and https://www.military.com/daily-news/2024/08/06/tim-walz-who-spent-decades-enlisted-soldier-brings-years-of-work-vets-issues-dem-ticket.html

Corrected! Thanks for pointing that out :)

Minnesota is a member of the USHCA (US Heartland China Association), a trade association for agricultural goods. Walz as governor of Minnesota bodes well for U.S. foreign policy, should the Democrats win.

I'm 'not sure what to make of this' either Claire, given how Walz treated the citizens of Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota during his tenure as Governor the last few years.

(I admit I don't actually live in MN but I have friends there whose opinions I value. I haven't been back there since maybe 2017 despite living now just ~ 20 miles east of the Big Mississippi.)

But I value your contribution to transparency, giving us out her in the hinterland of USA a look at 'what came before' Walz's being plucked to ride the ticket under the D flag come November.

Guess Obama picked a good VP candidate for the party.
