Listening to Xi talk about struggle and decisive action while bopping Win&Lose by Chinese Football…or hell, trying to hold onto the vibe of a Howie Lee track…I can understand why Xi would be nervous.
The Chinese of my twentysomething age cohort do NOT seem on board.
My best way of contextualizing this is, what if a series of madmen had for 75 years fed the Chinese people on nothing but unflavored congee and then periodically screamed at them about how nuanced the flavor was and how important it was for them to eat it all and praise the recipe of the current chef.
Xi is not an economist and that will come back to bite him. The misallocation of capital in China's semi-command economy is off the charts. There will be hell to pay for the masses of ordinary Chinese working people when they realize their lie-savings have been squandered on boondoggles and, even worse, on a gigantic military buildup to be followed by foreign adventures.
Of course I may be completely wrong about that last part. I pray that I am.

I do appreciate Xi's achievements. There is a PBS Documentary I saw recently, and he has lived the struggle.
Quite a remarkable person, and seems like a genius manager. But, can you imagine the pressure!
These books he writes seem like 'pronouncements' that come into an actual codified National Ideology.
'Xi Jinping Thought' just keeps growing.
I would like to see the internal talking points of an actual plenary session.
Thank you for this article,, nice work!

Du Fu is an amazing poet!
For Hua Qing
Du Fu
In Jincheng, music of silk and flutes mixes together all day,
Half goes to the river breeze, half goes to the clouds.
Music such as this should only go to heaven above,
In this human world, how many times can it be heard?
Did he mention anything about invading Taiwan?
*Thats* what we care about.
